Planning on attending the Annual Meeting ???

If you are planning on attending the Annual Meeting of the Parkridge HOA to voice your concerns about the unprecedented $43 increase in your monthly fee, don't plan on seeing our esteemed President, Rene Fernandez, there.
He's not going to show up. It's unclear whether or not he's quitting the Board permanently or if he really has something more pressing, or if he just doesn't have the guts to face the music for HIS decision to raise the rate, but regardless, he's not going to be there.

That's right. I said HIS decision. The rate was never discussed in open or closed session of a Board Meeting and was passed at a meeting where 2 board members were absent!!! If this is the way the new Board and Management Company are going to do business, I suspect there are going to be more than six "For Sale" signs out front pretty shortly.

Does anyone know if we got enough votes to have a quorum for the annual meeting to proceed with the election of board members?

I don't believe Rene's not going to show up at the Annual Meeting. How else is he going to showcase his achievements and accomplishments during the last year ?? It would be like a king not showing up for his coronation. The Oganization Chart he presented in his last newsletter alone is worth the kudos and admiration of the entire community.

On the other hand, why should he show up? The Annual Meeting is the best attended meeting of the year and why should he have to listen to the complaints of all the people he has given warnings to or otherwise ignored. After all, they voted for him last year.

With Kelly Thompson getting off the Board this year, and with write-in votes being discouraged, that leaves only five candidates for five positions, so all he had to do was vote for himself to guarantee his election.

And as far as him quitting, I don't buy that either. He's got a ten ton chip on his shoulder, is oblivious to criticism, and thinks he's doing a great job. After all, he's just getting started.

I hate to be an "I told you so" kind of person, but I TOLD YOU SO.

I agree with everything that's being said here. I live a couple of doors down from a board memeber and they were just as shocked as I was to get that fee increase notice.

You guys forgot to mention how much Rene Fernandez likes hearing the sound of his own voice. I've attended 4 or 5 meetings this past year and, to me, thats his most annoying characteristic.

Does anyone know if you can change your vote at the Annual Meeting? Or make a change if you just sent in the ballot without voting for anyone in particular? I didn't vote for him myself, but these issues have come up in talking to other residents. I got a feeling that the Annual Meeting is not going to be a pleasant experience for either board members or management company if you can't change your vote.

I've heard that too...that the board members don't really vote on anything because Rene makes the decisions by himself. Isn't that illegal? I mean, we have five board members like it requires in the CC&R's but it sounds like they aren't all actively involved in the leadership or decision-making process.

I'm shocked that Rene hasn't gotten his tires slashed in the parking lot or his condo fire-bombed. For all of the people he has offended, mistreated, belittled and injured, I think it's a testament to the maturity, patience and tolerance of our community that we haven't done him in yet. NOW... LET'S VOTE HIM OUT!!!

I think the blame of the board is in the board. There are 5 members, looks like they are sitting back letting rene take the fall just so they can look good. If your a board member then you are just as responsible for the mess as everyone. A chain is only as strong as the weakest link. If some of the board are not going do do anything then why are they there? So they can tell their friends "I'm a board member at my condo". The way I see it is like this, Five board members of which all took an oath to serve for this property. If the board has a problem they should deal with it. Not sit on their butt and point fingers. I see everyone bashing rene but then shouldn't you be mad at the other board members for letting him have full control. If they are not doing anything to stop him then that leaves me to believe that they agree with him to some point. (And talking about how much rene is controling to your neighbors dosen't count) I have seen nothing in writing on how any one board member is abusing their power. Untill then the action of one board member represents all the board members, thats the way politics work.

Was there a meeting? What happened???
I have been working nights lately and today was my first wednesday off in a long time....I was out by the mailboxes at about 2pm and there was a sign up that said meeting...I thought great I will go..then at about 4pm I was out there and the signs were gone....so I left to go run errands since there was no meeting....I came home at 8pm and saw people in the clubhouse...was there a meeting?

Yes there was a meeting. For the first time (ever?) enough votes were received to carry on with the Annual Meeting and elect a board of directors for 2007. Board members are: Rene Hernandez, Kelly Thompson, Lee Kersten, Kevin Sharp and David Fabrizio.

Brining up these issues at the board meetings are worthless...I tried to ask about uneven sidewalks and rusting/rotting steele dividers not looking so safe...shot down and told to fill out a paper trail form (these forms are used in the event the HOA gets audited and has proof of where the "funds" are going, wink, wink!) Yes Rene seems to make and approve of all the rules, yes we are screwed, yes we should start a petition regarding these issues an forward it to sombody on a higher level like say the state housing authority or sombody that can shut down the current monarchy in Rene land..er, I mean Parkridge... but what do I know, any time we bitch we get fined, since he has not fined anyone latley though it makes sense for our HOA fees to raise so he can make up the diffrence. I hope Rene plans another party soon because we need some more work done around here... I am not blind -I did see the club house repairs go into warp speed in time for his birthday party...can anyone else see this? Todd? tell me this does not piss you off enuff to dedicate a paragraph to this page in ode of the Rene hatered you harbor! (I feel the same way though)and I don't under stand how nobody has Knocked this guy out! I just moved in here over 2 months ago and can not wait to GTF out of here!
