Trouble with parking???

Trouble with parking???
I got home last night at 9:45 and followed three other cars in the gate, only to find that there were no parking spots left. So all four of us were left circling the lot trying to find a place to park our vehicles. Does it seem like parking has gotten signficantly worse in the last couple of weeks? I've never had this much trouble.

I fully agree that in the past 2 months parking has gotten extremely tight. I won't even go out anymore if it means getting home past 10pm.

Perhaps the most frustrating part is that as I circle looking for a spot, without exception, the carports seem to always be at least half empty.

Who has the carports and why aren't they using them?

Parking seems to run hot and cold here and probably always will. People using their garages for storage, residents having multiple roomates with vehicles, people not getting rid of their old vehicles after buying new ones are all factors. There are 136 garages, 120 spaces, and 28 carports. That's 284 spaces for 136 units and ought to be enough.

For all you guys complaining about violations: are you getting fines on your first offense or do you have multiple violations?? According to the Rules enforcement page that came with the budget which we got with the ballots, the first offense is to get a written warning only. Sounds like the first offense is a "freebie" to me.

Some of the issues seem to involve "interpretation" and if so, you are not going to win an argument with Rene. Interpretation is the sole responsibility of the board, and whether you like it or not, he's on the board and you're not. So find out EXACTLY what he wants and comply. My parents taught me not to get in a fight I had no chance of winning.

And for all you guys threatening to slash his tires or otherwise "do him in", do you relaize you leave an electronic trace every time you post something on this blog ?? If something really bad actually happens to him, the police would automatically have a list of suspects.

I didn't think he was the right guy to be on the board 4 or 5 years ago and I don't think so today. But enough people voted for him anyway and the reality is he's going to be on the board for a long, long time and we all should learn to deal with it.

The parking does run hot and cold but it is EXTREMELY cold lately. There are people storing vehicles that they move every 7 - 10 days but never really drive anywhere. Another cause is people using Parkridge as a meeting place for friends when the go out for the evening. There are generally 6-7 spaces open after 2:30 in the morning. I've been out wlaking my dog and seen a car full of people pull in, 4 people get out, get in to their own cars and take off. I think visitors should park on Rolling Hills if they plan on staying around past 9 or 10 in the evening.

As for violations, Todd. My "freebies" were 9 to 13 months before my fine (I seem to recall Rene campaigning to a fresh start...wiping the slate clean. Yeah, that sure happened). The actual violation that resulted in the fine was do to Rene changing the interpretation of the rules and not telling anyone. Actively using your garage now means that you are standing in or just outside of your garage, if you leave it for ANY reason, you must close your door. My fine was for bringing a box out to my garage, walking back to my unit and bringing out another box. According to Kelly, I need to open my garage, puit the box in, close my garage, go get my other box, open the garage again and close it as I leave. This also goes the same if you are taking trash out of your garage to throw into the dumpster. You must pull the trash out, close the garage door throw it out and open your garage door again. Seems REALLY stupid to me to close your door for 30 to 45 seconds and re-open it. What gets me the most is that I had been told that going in and out like that WAS considered 'actively using'. FYI- my garage door freebie was when my garage door opener was broken and wouldn't stay closed. I fixed it the next day and received my "Notice" the following week.

The Fire Lane crap is another story altogether. The first 4 years that I lived here, I was told I could stop my car by the garages to unload groceries and such, but not leave it parked. That has changed now as well....EXCEPT for Kelly. 10 days after my "hearing" at which Kelly explained that vehicles may not be stopped for any length of time in the Fire Lane, she was spotted unloading her car park in a Fire Lane. She also takes her dog into the laundry room while throwing away her junk mail. I know at least 2 people that sent in Communication forms about the violations and nothing has happened. THAT is what really ticks me off.

The carports are a joke. I've been trying to get one for over 5 years but because of the jack ass guy with the Association (Chris) giving me the run around, my name didn't go on the "list" until last year. For those that have a carport, don't use them as a back up in case there is no parking, just USE them.

ATTENTION DRUNKS WHO USE THE JACUZZI AT 2AM!

I could care less if you are drunk and use the jacuzzi. Just please be quiet drunks and let the rest of the temporarily sober people here SLEEP!

And throw your Budweiser in the BIGGER trash can, not those pathetically small ones!
