During these tough economic times, it would be very difficult to again raise the dues and/or to impose a big special assessment. Holding off on spending for at least another year would be in the best interest of the owners and association. There are those of us who have lost our jobs and don't know how we will be able to pay more than what we are currently paying.

In the present economy, the association is going to have to manage the issue without raising the dues or another special assessment. The Board is going to have to catch up on the news and the jobless rate and see what's going on in the world. Then they can formulate a better proposal than to just spend, spend, spend money that will not be available until the recession is over.
If you would go to the board meetings and take an hour out of, "I'm sure", your busy day, you would know that roofs are leaking everywhere. When the roofs leak, not only do we have to fix the outside, but the inside has to be done too. You would also know that the wood is rotted so bad that if it is not fixed someone will get hurt and a law suit would cost you more money than fixing the problem now. I think this board has done more with the HOA funds than anyone else. Do you read your financials and newsletters? Have you not seen all the volunteer work around here, not costing you a dime? We need people to step up to the plate and support our community rather than complain about our community. Which are you?
to the moderator,
Your censorship of this site is horrible. I have talked to quite a few residents here who try to post comments to no avail. You need to post all! Is someone is writing something stupid it will be recognized as such and be dismissed. You are only proving to your community how no body cares about the residents who live here and struggle in these times to make ends meet.
I've written many times that if you are simply mean and rude there is no reason to post the comment. It does not take much effort to suggest a better way, be funny, interesting or informative if criticizing something or someone. I believe these are pretty simple guidelines to have your comments posted. Don't you? Also, sign your comments and don't hide behind anonymous and I'm much more likely to pass through. There have been some nasty things written that I personally agreed with but they to too vulgar to post...in my humble opinion. Howard
God Bless Us All!
According to the flyer that accompanies the monthly bill, we're due for another special assessment. Despite what needs to be fixed in the complex, we're faced with a horrible economy, people losing their jobs, and others wondering if they're next. If we are forced to cough up this extra money, it had better be put to good and necessary use, like fixing the pipes. Or just put someone from Roto Rooter on permanent retainer. :) Other less important matters like the pool or tennis courts should be put at the bottom of the list. I have lived in the complex for about 13 years. In all that time, I have never - not once - set foot on the tennis court. The same goes for the swimming pool. In fact in 13 years, I have entered the gated pool area only twice, and neither occasion was within the last 10 years. As far as I'm concerned, we can fill the pool in and turn it into a flower garden. And the tennis courts would make a nice area to store extra trash containers.
To be candid, I agreed with the comment made not to raise the dues or any other special assessment this time, until dust settled on the current economy crisis that we are in right now. I just got laid off from my job. The board needs to put this in consideration.
Thank you.
