Diversified Gives Parkridge 60 Days Notice

Anonymous said...
Information update, in the board meeting that was held at the clubhouse on 1-10-07 Diversified owner stood up and said his company will no longer manage our property. I know he gave some letters to the board and said they have 60 days notice to take over or find another company to take it. What will this place turn into with no one to pay our bills and what not? I think they had enough of the complaints about problems as home owners we should take care of on our own. Or was it too much of Rene and his accountability sheets? Either way they are gone.

Wow! I can't believe we got dumped by Diversified! I would have hoped that it would have been the other way around! That's pretty sad...

I attended the HOA meeting last night and was disgusted.

I wasn't disgusted with the board, even though Rene could have shut his mouth more throughout the evening.

I was disgusted with the people who bitched and weren't WILLING to do the most basic task to get a solution to their problem. Fill out a Communication Form, for heaven's sake!

Granted, I felt bad for the people who had holes in their floor four months after their slab leak repair and for the poor woman who documented every conversation she had with Diversified and saved all her bills, etc. to get reimbursement. I think hers has gone on two years. That's ridiculous that these people have to wait this long to get action.

I also thought that Bob, the owner of Diversified, acted horribly. He wanted to make a scene and put all the blame on the board for every single problem that was HIS company's responsibility to handle. I've been to past HOA meetings where residents have complained about waiting SIX MONTHS to get instructions on how to install a satellite dish the appropriate way in this community. Um...Hello! If I were on the board and were working with a property management company that did business like that, I would CRUSADE to get them out of here. Rene also mentioned that he had called vendors HIMSELF to get the ball rolling on things. I don't know how true that is, but that is ridiculous if he had to do that. That is the property management company's job!I am glad that they're going to be gone! After seeing Bob in action last night, all I kept thinking was that he should leave immediately! When he did the drama bit of saying, "We're outta here," I wanted to say, "Thank goodness!"

I personally like the Communication Forms, or, as the post says, "accountability sheets." What I couldn't believe last night was how many people were unwilling to do that to work on getting their problem solved! I hope that those who complain about them never have to create a paper trail for CYA purposes. If you have to and say, "No, it's too Stalinist, yada yada," don't be too shocked if your problem isn't solved! I personally think that Rene had a good idea with that.

In closing, I'd like to say this. Don't make Rene the fall guy for all the problems here. We've had a management company that was subpar-at best. Granted Rene's personality isn't the best. At least he has tried to create positive change here.

How many of you are willing to do the same?

I think that the 1st person hit the nail on the head on both counts. Parkridge has too many "owners" who have no idea of the responsibilities or risks they took on when becoming a member of a Homeowners Association. And Rene with his arrogance and his insistance that every little thing be done his way doesn't help either.

Diversified is not guilt-free, either. Julie should have been replaced long ago. She probably would do OK with an Association with less than 10 townhomes less than 10 years old, but Parkridge was way over her head. As her supervisor, Bob Marshall should have recognized this.

Any way you look at it, it's time to move on!!

P.S. I've never attended a meeting, but as far as those people complaining about holes in their floors and trying to get re-imbursed, it has been my experience that every coin has two sides and there may be a story behind these.

I agree with almost everything mentioned in the preceeding comments. It would have been better if Parkridge dumped Diversified instead of the other way around, but 6 of one, half a dozen of the other, what's done is done.

The residents here fall into one of two categories: they are either self-sufficient, resourceful, and are aware of their responsibilities, or they are helpless, fragile flowers who need their hands held for even the simplest problems.

I also agree that when someone presents their so-called problem in a public forum like a board meeting, it is unlikely to expect a truthful, even-handed presentation. Two years to resolve an issue !!! Get real!! I would have been in remediation or court way before that, if I really had an issue, that is.

The only thing I disagree with is the Communication Form. Here are some reasons. If someone fills out a communication form, who's to say the information on it is true or within the scope of the manager's ability to resolve it. There is no way to verify if the management company even receivies it. If someone fills out a Communication Form and makes an unreasonable request, does this not force the management company to waste their time responding to it as such in writing??

I just want to repond to the above comments regarding long-unresolved issues (just wait until you have one, and then I'd like to hear what you have to say). I have had an on-going issue for several years. I am resourceful, practical and willing to do whatever it takes. However, the problem involves another unit and so-called "common area" and I am unable to fix the problem on my own. I have attended many meetings, filled out communication forms, contacted the management company respectfully but consistently, communicated peacefully with my neighbor...for countless months. It should be noted that the board, the management company and my neighbor all agree that there is a problem that needs to be fixed. However, the issue is and has been in the hands of the board for almost a year and it is still unresolved.

Unless you have had experience trying to fix something that involves going through the board and management company, I don't think you should be commenting or passing judgment on people who are struggling to resolve seemingly simple issues that become rediculously complex and extended when working with the board.

I wait in fear of the day that I come home and have 6 inches of water in my unit and must spend the next year with holes in my drywall and unpaid plumbing bills while the board decides what they want to do.

I just think it's really scary to be now paying almost $300 a month...we have no idea who is going to manage this place, board members are leaving, people are complaining....just scary...We really all need to come together positively. I am not sure if this was on the way to happening but it seems like as soon as Rene came everything fell apart...correct me if I am wrong, please. I don't go to HOA meeting because they are way toooooooo long.

To whom are you paying "almost $300 a month" ?? Monthly association fees are now $199 for a 1=bedroom and $209 for a 2-bedroom the last time I checked. That's not even close to $300 !!!
